| Story: | I personally didn't want Notre Dame to play LSU before Florida, OSU, Michigan, or Arkansas. New Orleans is going to be bumping with LSU in the stadium. I think Notre Dame will be ok if the offense gets the offense flowing in the first quarter. It seems when the defense plays well when the offense is rolling. I think the defense doesn't feel as pressured to make the stop when the offense is scoring, the defense is solid. It is a momentum thing with Notre Dame. When one cylinder is firing, they all fire. Let's take LSU four teams this year who were ranked:
A 7-3 loss to Auburn. LSU only ran for 42 yards total and threw for 269. Auburn had worse statistics with only 72 yds rushing and 11 passing. Seems both teams were trying new things and not clicking because it was the beginning of the season. If it were replayed now, LSU would clearly win.
A 23-10 loss to Florida. Once again, LSU lead in yardage but didn't win the game. Tim Tebow had three touchdowns he lead, running one in and two passing. Tebow only had 36 yards so he was used in trick plays. LSU probably was not ready for a freshman to do what he did. A 28-24 win vs Tennessee. This game shows how they balanced out there passing and running. 9 players ran with the ball in this game. 247 passing / 231 running. Once again, LSU kept the other teams running game under 100 yards and made UT one dimensional.
A 31-26 win over Arkansas. Arkansas is more of a running team and as you can see, they ran a ton more then passing. I think this just throws the trend out of wack. In the first three games, rushing was kept under control and passing was 3 to 4 times rushing yards.
In the two games they lost they were passed all over. I don't think LSU can defend Notre Dame's passing game and I wonder if Notre Dame will be able to run on them or not. I think if Notre Dame can keep the ball moving in the air, Notre Dame will be fine. If ND can not pass, Coach Weis will be in trouble. ND running game will not be able to handle the front 7 of LSU, but I think ND will be able pass on the secondary. Quinn needs to leave ND with a win and break the streak of 8 bowl game losses in a row and if he leaves ND with a win, it will help with the 4 losses to USC and put a punctuation on his claim to being the best ND quarterback ever! Quinn and the running game will be the keys. The defense just needs to make some big plays and keep big plays over 40 yards under 2 for the game and they should be alright! GO IRISH GO! Quinns's Final Statement January, 3rd, 2007! If ND wins this game, ND might win the Blackwell Bowl. It will be hard to get Will to part from hometown LSU, even though he is a Notre Dame fan. |
